Adult Art Classes - Autumn 2024:
Thursday Adult Drawing Club (8 lessons) NEW
Venue: Linlithgow Bowling Club, 2 Philip Avenue, Linlithgow, EH49 7BHDate: Every Thursday from 22 August – 31 October 2024 (no class on 12 September, 17 October and 24 October due to local school holidays)Time: 12.45pm – 2.45pmCome along to this weekly class to get to grips with the fundamentals of drawing. Every lesson is tutor led with art demonstrations and individual tuition focusing on a particular theme. Students will learn how to look at drawing in a refreshing and stimulating way. Drawing to observe objects and space in situ, tackling perspective and drawing from a live model. Students will be encouraged to work with a range of art materials that is available in class: from willow charcoal, pencil, ink to pastels. The initial focus will be on developing observational techniques using basic drawing medium such as charcoal, pencil and paper. All levels of ability are welcome.Friday Adult Drawing and Painting Class (10 lessons)

This 10 -week course is suitable for all levels of ability, covering a range of drawing and painting techniques looking at still life, figure, narrative scenes, and landscape.

Working with a professional model, this tutored drawing class is suitable for beginners and those with more experience. Tutor will provide demonstrations, looking at short poses and sustained poses. Students will learn about proportions and build-on observational drawing skills.Book Now
Oil Painting Workshop (18+)
Venue: Linlithgow Bowling Club, 2 Philip Avenue, Linlithgow, EH49 7BHDate: Thursday 5 December 2024
Time: 6.30pm – 9.30pmThis 3-hr workshop is a practical and informative introduction to using oil paints. Students will be working from good quality photographs to produce a small oil painting using alla prima technique. Instruction will be given on grounds, colour mixing and paint applications.Book Now

Time: 4pm – 5.30pm *school pick up available from Linlithgow Primary School
Topics covered: illustration, collage, figure drawing and painting, landscape and still life and clay modelling. Tutor provides art demonstrations in every lesson with art materials and techniques explained in a fun and engaging way. Students will have the opportunity to work with a variety of art materials such as soft pastels, oil pastels, air-drying clay, watercolours, gouache, acrylics, ink and artist quality inktense pencils.

Time: 12.30pm - 3.30pm
This class is engaging, providing students with a short “art school” experience. Professional grade Artist materials will be used in this course. The tutor provides students structure and guidance, working with water-based paints, oil paints, monoprinting techniques and a range of quality drawing mediums such as Conté pastel pencils and Derwent Inktense pencils. The tutor will introduce the lesson with a theme and discuss contemporary and historical artist’s work for ideas and inspiration. Individual tuition and art demonstrations will also be given.

But after discovering her passion for design and jewellery making, she erupted onto the fashion scene with a bang.'' - Vivienne Westwood by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara (part of the Little People, Big Dreams Book series).
In this fun festive workshop the children will get to express their inner punk and embrace patterns and fabrics that inspired Vivienne Westwood's collection for almost 6 decades. The children will use painting and printing techniques, ribbon embellishments to design a canvas pencil case and tote bag to take home.

Cancellation Policy
No refund for cancellation. Payments are not transferable.
If the tutor cancels a class(es), full refund will be provided for the cancelled session(s).
After-school pick-up for Linlithgow Primary School children attending the art class
Please hand-in one note to the class teacher at the start with all class dates and permission for Elaine (Art Tutor) to collect your child in front of Linlithgow Primary School’s mosaic mural at the end of the school day. For P1 and P2 children, a parent/ carer may need to help with bringing the child from the infant playground to the mosaic mural (please discuss with the tutor).
