Summer Outdoor Painting: En Plein Air Painting for Adults in Linlithgow on Friday 24 July
Meet by Katie Wearie Statue (across the road from West Port Hotel) at 9.50 am

Time: 10.00 am – 4.00 pm (with a 45-minute lunch break at 12 noon)
Spaces: Strictly limited to 12 spaces
Immerse yourself in the elements for a full day of traditional en plein air painting along the picturesque shores of Linlithgow Loch. Guided by a professional art lecturer, this masterclass focuses on navigating changing natural light, mastering atmospheric perspective, colour mixing in real-time, and building technical landscape composition.

Thursday Beginner’s Adult Drawing Class (10 lessons)

Time: 11.15 am– 12.45 pm
Suitable for all levels of ability, this 10-week course focuses on the fundamentals of drawing to develop observational skills. Each lesson is tutor-led with demonstrations and individual tuition, exploring techniques to tackle still life, landscapes, buildings, and figures. Students will be encouraged to work with a range of materials available in class—from willow charcoal and pencil to ink and pastels—to build confidence and look at drawing in a refreshing way. Thursday Adult Evening Art Workshop Figure Drawing and Painting from the Model (2-Session Masterclass)

Discover the rewarding practice of drawing and painting from a live studio model. Spread across two relaxed yet focused evening sessions, this welcoming short course is designed for all levels—whether you are picking up a charcoal stick for the very first time or looking to refresh your life drawing skills.
Guided step-by-step by a professional instructor, you will learn the basics of anatomy, scale, and proportion through quick, expressive sketches on night one. In the second session, we will slow down to look at capturing light, shadow, and mixing skin tones to create a sustained figurative piece.

Draw & Sculpt 2-Day Summer Workshop Surrealist Totems: Plaster Sculpture Masterclass (P4 – P7)

Day 1: Thursday 6 August, 12.30 noon – 4.30 pm (Concept, Vertical Armature & Plaster works)
Day 2: Friday 7 August, 10.00 am – 4.30 pm (Detailing, Painting & Finishes)
Bring your imagination to life in this immersive, hands-on two-day sculpture workshop! Designed specifically for creative P4–P7 students, this masterclass introduces young artists to the exciting world of 3D design and Surrealism as they build their very own character totems from scratch.
Over the two days, students will learn how to sketch out wild, surrealist concepts, construct a strong vertical wire armature, and master the art of plaster casting. On day two, we will focus on carving details, building textures, and using bold painting techniques to bring their unique sculptures to life.
The studio days are structured with plenty of short, refreshing breaks, including fun creative games and quick fresh-air breathers on the club grounds to keep everyone energised, focused, and inspired.

Thursday Young Creatives Art Class for P5 – S2 age group – Level 1 (10 lessons)
Venue: Linlithgow Bowling Club, 2 Philip Avenue, Linlithgow, EH49 7BH
Date: Every Thursday from 27 August – 19 November 2026 (no class on 17 September, 15 and 22 October 2026)
Time: 6.15 pm – 7.45 pm
Prerequisite: This progressive course is a follow-on class suitable for students who have previously attended After-school Art Class, or new students who can demonstrate basic drawing and painting skills.
This is a new, exciting, and challenging art class looking at technique development in drawing and painting, and building on creative processes. An opportunity to look at art history, and contemporary art practices to inform student’s own work. Students will be encouraged to use sketches to develop initial ideas, studying works by artists to gain further knowledge before creating final pieces. There will be group projects as well as independent art projects in this class, including an exclusive life drawing session with a live model each term to learn form and scale. Quality artist materials will be used in this course.

Friday Young Creatives Art Class for S1 – S6 age group – Level 2 (10 lessons)

Date: Every Friday from 28 August – 20 November 2026 (no class on 18 September, 16 and 23 October 2026)
Time: 3.15 pm - 4.45 pm
Prerequisite: This progressive course is designed for secondary students who have previously attended Young Creatives Art Class (Level 1), or new students who can demonstrate good observational drawing and painting skills.
This is a new, exciting, and challenging art class aimed at the older age group of children, expanding on their technical and individual creative awareness. A focus will be placed on expanding on visual and creative faculty, looking at technique development in drawing, painting (introducing advanced mediums like oil painting), and printmaking. An opportunity to look at art and design history, and contemporary art practices to inform student’s own work. Students will be encouraged to use sketches to develop initial ideas, studying works by artists and designers to gain further knowledge in a supportive, studio-focused atmosphere. This course includes a dedicated life drawing session with a live model each term. Quality artist materials will be used in this course.

Anime Art Workshop for P5 – S4 age group
Venue: Linlithgow Bowling Club, 2 Philip Avenue, Linlithgow, EH49 7BH
Date: Saturday 3 October 2026
Time: 12.30 pm – 3.30 pm
In this workshop, the students will receive comprehensive instruction in illustration skills with a focus on drawing Anime style. The tutor will cover various aspects, including colour rendering techniques, unique styles, dynamic poses, fashioning clothing, and the art of character creation.
Students will explore a range of mediums, including colour pencils, markers, and watercolour, to enhance their artistic abilities.

Booking and Payment
Booking and payment is done on a first come first serve basis on the website: www.linlithgowartschool.co.uk
Places are subject to availability. Full payment is required to secure the place.
If you have a gift voucher credit, you can use a voucher redeem code.
For those wishing to purchase gift vouchers. Please check the lesson dates with the availability of the recipient. Classes are usually on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Course Selection and Administration Fees
Please review your course selection carefully before completing your booking. Because class spaces are limited and payment processors charge non-recoverable transaction fees, any accidental bookings onto the wrong course will incur a £5 administration fee to cover manual cancellation and rebooking administration.
Website Malfunctions and Technical Errors
Cancellation Policy
No refund for cancellation. Payments are not transferable.
If the tutor cancels a class(es), full refund will be provided for the cancelled session(s).
Code of Conduct
All students are required to show respect to the tutor, fellow students, and the art materials, and maintaining a positive attitude within the art class environment. Deliberate damages to art equipment, aggression, use inappropriate language or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated. Three warnings will be given, thereafter the student’s place will be forfeited, and remaining lessons will not be refundable or transferable.
After-school pick-up for Linlithgow Primary School children attending the art class
Please hand-in one note to the class teacher at the start with all class dates and permission for Elaine (Art Tutor) to collect your child in front of Linlithgow Primary School’s mosaic mural at the end of the school day. For P1 and P2 children, a parent/ carer may need to help with bringing the child from the infant playground to the mosaic mural (please discuss with the tutor).
